Bravur X Wingårdh Limited Edition - Dark

Wingårdh converted a large old farm in the countryside in southern Sweden into a vacation house for a family from the nearby city of Malmö. He transformed the original farm buildings – cowshed, stables, hay loft and barn – into sleeping quarters, kitchen and a gym, among other rooms, and added a new freestanding wing to the late 19 th -century house.

This little annex is a refuge, a quiet place to escape to or a private domain for guests to inhabit. Throughout the project, the client demonstrated unwavering faith in the architect, giving him great latitude in designing the little fifty-square-meter cottage. The detailing of the annex surpasses all of Wingårdh’s prior work. The entire building is crafted with the precision of fine cabinetry and the craftsmanship and materials – oak and limestone – infuse the atmosphere with warmth and authenticity.

The House of Sweden rejects the conventional embassy typology. The architecture emphasizes transparency instead of borders. This can be interpreted as an illustration of the welfare state, but is also an answer to the new agenda of diplomacy. Marketing has stepped in to the world of politics and information has replaced the communiqué.

The translucent exhibition space on the entry level, where sliding doors will open over the corners in suitable weather, is a solution for the expanded ambitions of the chancellery – so is the auditorium by the lily pond downstairs and, in a more abstract sense, the façade where the Swedish tradition of wood painting is revived by a computer-generated print. The materials are white stone for the podium, blond maple for the interior, which penetrates the thin glass shield and becomes exterior wall treatment only to be covered by a second glass layer containing a mist of white printed dots.

Victoria Tower is a 117.6-meter-high hotel and office building in Kista, Sweden. At the base of the slender tower is a broad podium that includes a restaurant, conference area, and more.

The parallelogram form of the tower is topped by a rectangular parallelepiped, so that the upper floors project out beyond the shaft below. An irregular arrangement of metal-colored triangular panes of glass gives the façade its character.

It incorporates eight different types of glass distributed randomly over the surface so that no regular pattern can be detected. Thin layers of metal oxide have been used to give the panes the insulating and solar shading attributes the situation demands.

For the collection created for online fashion store Stayhard, Rasmus restricted himself to only work with black and dark blue.

Since the design Rasmus created is rather minimalistic, a lot of work and effort was put in to the quality and fit of the clothes.

Much of the inspiration for the collection comes from his relation to streetwear and classic tailoring.

A conversation between Rasmus Wingårdh and Rob Street ended up turning into a full collaboration. It all started with an octagonal table and grew into a whole series of furnitures, all hand made in Stockholm.

At first they had an abstract idea of what the tables would look like, wanting to get defined lines on the tabletop. There where thoughts of using inlay and Rob came up with the idea of turning it into a puzzle of grains flowing together. Rasmus started to play with how the lines would meet and the different pieces finally took shape.

The tops are a mosaic parquet of birch plywood from 30mm to 40mm in thickness. This makes them feel very solid, yet with all the angles on the sides, this creates the illusion of something very delicate.

This was actually the key throughout the whole process, not just with the tabletops. In fact it was the dominant reason behind most of the leg designs, since they needed to be stable, yet looking beautiful.

All this being said, the most important thing for the duo, was to create a beautiful hand crafted piece of furniture.
